Planting Potatoes: the definitive guide

Maincrop Seed Potatoes

All there is to know about Maincrop Potatoes

Maincrop is a collective name for potato varieties that are normally planted in late April which mature in 125–140 days (usually harvested around mid-August).  Maincrop potato harvests can continue through the year until around October.

Maincrop potatoes are higher yielding than first and second early varieties, and usually produce larger sized tubers.  They tend to be the best varieties to grow if you want some for storage.
